Growth requires vision

The user

More than 30 years ago, the skilled shop-keeper Uwe Drzemalla and businessman Jürgen Weinberg founded the SUT GmbH in Bremen. Meanwhile, the company, whose first warehouse was a basement room in the Hanseatic city, Rostock and Emden not only other locations on the German coast, but also subsidiaries in the Polish Szczecin and in Russia’s St. Petersburg. The two sons of the company founders have now taken over the roles of the managing partners and lead the company with more than 70 employees at the sites. In order to serve all its customers, from the large shipyard to the small vehicle workshop, the SUT business model is based on three pillars: welding, cutting and vacuuming. No matter whether it concerns the consultation, installation and repair of welding, cutting or ventilation technology, protective clothing or filter systems are needed, the SUT welding and welding Umwelttechnik Handelsgesellschaft mbH offers the complete package and a certified service.

The starting point

The company, headquartered in the Hanseatic city of Bremen, has been successfully using the software solutions of SelectLine for several years. First of all, we worked with different servers and clients at each of the three German locations. Over time, the product and customer base developed independently. Different names and descriptions have been created for the same articles, so it has been tedious to find out if an article is still available at another site or not. Working with different clients also resulted in up to 3 different part numbers being assigned to the same item, which also unnecessarily increased inventory levels.

The solution

After Maik Weinberg joins the company founded by his father in 2013, the foundation is laid for the future of SUT Schweiß- und Umwelttechnik Handelsgesellschaft mbH. A server change goes hand in hand with the use of a uniform SelectLine merchandise management system at all three German locations and sets the course for later projects, such as the use of SelectLine MDE. In addition, all processes in the company were analyzed and a comprehensive modernization program was initiated in order to secure the long-term economic success of the family business.
